Working with children and young people can be rewarding, complex and emotionally demanding. Supervision provides a dedicated space for reflection, support and professional development, helping practitioners to maintain safe, ethical and effective practice while nurturing their own wellbeing, resilience and professional growth.
Artricia Therapy offers supervision to individual practitioners and teams working with children, young people and families. Supervision can be provided as one-off consultations or through regular ongoing arrangements and is available face-to-face, online or by telephone.
Supervision is an essential part of safe and effective practice with children and young people. The supervisory approach places the needs of children and young people at the centre of practice, with a focus on safeguarding, risk assessment and risk management alongside consideration of therapeutic processes, interventions and outcomes.
Patricia holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Child Protection and maintains a strong safeguarding lens throughout supervision. Discussions are informed by current safeguarding guidance, policy and legislation, supporting practitioners to navigate complex situations while ensuring that children's wellbeing remains central to practice.
Supervision is not only a space to think about the needs of children and young people but also an opportunity to reflect on your own professional journey, strengths and development needs.
Returning to practice after a period away can bring both opportunities and challenges. Supervision can support practitioners to rebuild confidence, reflect on changes within the profession and identify areas for ongoing development.
For practitioners establishing or developing a private practice, supervision can provide space to think about professional identity, ethical considerations, service development, boundaries and sustainable ways of working.
Supervision can help practitioners identify learning needs, build on existing strengths and develop meaningful CPD plans that support both professional goals and the needs of the children, young people and families they work alongside.
Supervision discussions are informed by current practice, policy, legislation and relevant theoretical frameworks. Alongside reflective discussion, supervision aims to support practitioners to integrate theory, evidence and practice in ways that enhance professional confidence and promote high-quality support for children and young people.
Supervision is available for individual practitioners and teams and can be arranged as one-off consultations or ongoing sessions.
Sessions can take place:
The frequency and duration of supervision will be tailored to your role, caseload and professional requirements. For practitioners working with a small number of children or young people, shorter or less frequent sessions may be more appropriate, while those with larger or more complex caseloads may benefit from regular ongoing supervision. Arrangements will be discussed collaboratively to ensure supervision remains proportionate, meaningful and supportive.
"Patricia's expertise, creativity, care and support has been outstanding! I felt very safe in her hands. Her gentle, open and empathic approach made it easy for me to talk about my strengths and struggles as I navigated these new shores, working therapeutically with the young people. I could not have done it without her. Thank YOU Patricia!" ."
